Early and Personal Life
She made her Bollywood debut through Agnnichakr under the screen name of Ruhi Sawant. She subsequently appeared in several low budget films in small roles. She gained popularity after appearing in the first season of television reality show Bigg Boss and surprisingly lasted more than critics expected.
Rakhi again hit the headlines of tabloids when she chose her life partner through television show Rakhi Ka Swayamwar in 2009 but later the couple broke up citing differences.
She also appeared as a judge in few reality shows. Her blockbuster hits include Main Hoon Na co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Sunil Shetty, and Zayed Khan, Masti co-starring Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani, Shootout at Lokhandwala co-starring Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Sunil Shetty, and Arbaaz Khan, among other films.
Sawant founded her own political party named Rashtriya Aam Party on 28th March 2014, she contested from Mumbai North-West Constituency and got only 2006 votes making her lose the deposit. She subsequently joined RPI and serves as president of the woman wing.
Career
She made her film debut in Agnichakr under the name Ruhi Sawant. She went on to other small roles and dance numbers in Bollywood films Joru Ka Ghulam, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, and Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke.

In 2003, she auditioned for an item number in the Bollywood movie Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne. She auditioned about four times before being selected for her breakthrough item number, “Mohabbat Hai Mirchi”, composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Sawant acted in small roles in films including Masti and Main Hoon Na.
In 2005, she appeared in the music video “Pardesiya”, from the album D.J. Hot Remix – Vol 3.
