Vivek Oberoi is born Vivekanand Oberoi on 3 September 1976 and is an Indian film actor. He predominantly appears in Hindi films. He has portrayed a variety of characters and has won many awards, including two Filmfare Awards from five nominations. Vivek is the son of Bollywood actor Suresh Oberoi.
Early Life:
Oberoi was born in Hyderabad, Telangana to Punjabi father, Suresh Oberoi, a veteran Bollywood character actor, and Yashodhara Oberoi, who also comes from a Punjabi family but since long settled in South India,namely Chennai and Hyderabad. Suresh Oberoi was not an actor at the time of his marriage but was running a chain of Medical stores which was his family business. He would later join Film and Television Institute of India.
Vivek did his schooling from Hyderabad Public School and later went on to study at Mayo College, Ajmer. Thereafter, he attended Mithibai College, Juhu.
At an actors’ workshop in London, Vivek was spotted by the director of New York University who took Vivek to New York, where he completed his master’s degree in film acting. Vivek also worked as a scriptwriter in India.
Career
Apart from being an actor, Vivek Oberoi is also a businessman and philanthropist. Vivek Oberoi’s hobbies include contributing to social work in his spare time.
He is quite passionate about his philanthropy, especially when Vivek Oberoi helped with relief and rebuilding efforts of a Tsunami-affected village in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. Vivek Oberoi was awarded the Red and White Bravery Award (2006) for this.
Vivek’s immaculate performance in Company – in which he starred opposite Bollywood Big Bad Boy Ajay Devgn, Miss Bolly Manisha Koirala and the granddaddy of Malayalam Cinema, Mohanlal – was more than enough to get the media singing Oberoi’s praises.
Next in line was the psycho-thriller Road (2002) (opposite Company co-star and co-newcomer Antara Mali), Dum (2003) and the next big catch, Saathiya (2002), opposite Rani Mukerji.
