Papon’s real name is Angarag Mahanta. Papon is his stage name. He is an Indian singer, composer and record producer from Assam. Papon was born on 25th November 1975. He is the founder of the folk-fusion band which is called Papon. Angarag is born in Assam to an Assamese folk singer couple Khagen Mahanta and Archana Mahanta. His childhood was mostly in Assam for learning Indian Classical, devotional (Borgeet) and folk music. “Labon ka karobar” is the latest song of Angarag Mahanta in movie Befikre (2016). His love for music was seen in the early childhood. He sings in many languages like Tamil, Punjabi, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali. There are a lot of Bollywood movies in which Papon sings songs include Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore, Lakshmi, Madras Café, and Barfi. Papon released his first album Junaki Raati in Assamese at the end of 2004.
