Early Life and Career:

Jang Ki-yong was born and raised in Ulsan, South Korea. Growing up, he admired the world of fashion and entertainment but didn’t initially envision himself in the limelight. After being inspired by a fashion show he saw on TV, Jang moved to Seoul and entered the fashion industry while still in college. He made his runway debut in 2012 at Seoul Fashion Week, quickly becoming a sought-after model.

His acting career began with a cameo in the drama It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014), where he shared a memorable kiss scene with actress Lee Sung-kyung. That brief role sparked industry buzz, leading to more supporting roles. In 2017, he gained more recognition with the drama Confession Couple, and in 2018, he won hearts (and awards) for his role in Come and Hug Me, portraying a tragic yet sensitive detective opposite Jin Ki-joo.

His film debut came with Bad Guys: The Movie (2019), and he continued to build momentum with roles in Born Again and the fantasy-romance My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021). Before enlisting in the military, he starred alongside Song Hye-kyo in Now, We Are Breaking Up, one of the most talked-about dramas of the year.

After completing his mandatory military service in February 2023, Jang Ki-yong returned to the entertainment scene with renewed energy.
